Un caso di omicidio, un imputato che si dichiara innocente e un avvocato alle prime armi: così Solo tredici chilometri ci racconta una storia di malagiustizia.

È stato pubblicato lo scorso febbraio dalla casa editrice Alpha Beta Verlag di Merano, il romanzo scritto da Giovanni Accardo e Mauro De Pascalis intitolato Solo tredici chilometri.

Ispirandosi ad un reale fatto di cronaca, il libro racconta la vicenda di un giovane altoatesino ingiustamente accusato e condannato per un delitto che non aveva commesso.

Il Romanzo

Solo Tredici Chilometri nasce dalla collaborazione tra uno scrittore siciliano, Giovanni Accardo, ormai cittadino bolzanese da più di 25 anni e Mauro de Pascalis, avvocato penalista che seguì realmente il caso.

Il romanzo trae ispirazione da un caso di cronaca realmente accaduto nel 2001 e racconta l’inchiesta giudiziaria in tutte le sue fasi, dal fermo, alle udienze, fino all’epilogo finale.

Ma non si tratta solo del racconto di un’investigazione: Solo Tredici Chilometri è allo stesso tempo un legal thriller e un romanzo di formazione che si dipana attraverso gli occhi di un avvocato, alle prese con il suo primo caso penale di rilievo.

I protagonisti della vicenda narrata sono frutto della fantasia degli autori, ma ciò che rimane reale sono i luoghi che fanno da sfondo alla storia. Nello specifico, il paesino di San Candido, in cui abita il presunto colpevole, che si trova a solo tredici chilometri di distanza da Sillan (Austria), luogo di origine della vittima.

“Si viene a conoscenza di molti fatti giudiziari ma poi capita il caso che non dimentichi. È la storia che funziona, coinvolge, appassiona, esattamente come aveva appassionato il pubblico quand’era stato un fatto di cronaca. La raccontavo spesso e tutte le volte gli ascoltatori mi dicevano che doveva essere scritta, che aveva la potenzialità di un romanzo”.

La Storia

Il corpo senza vita di una giovane donna viene trovato ai margini di una strada di campagna a San Stino di Livenza, provincia di Venezia: si tratta di Johanna Pichler, 19enne austriaca.

Le indagini si concentrano subito su Martin Scherer, ragazzo di 26 anni di San Candido con cui Johanna aveva trascorso parte dell’ultima sera in cui era stata vista ancora viva. Johanna indossa ancora la felpa di Martin quando viene ritrovata e per gli inquirenti non c’è nessun dubbio, il colpevole è lui.

Martin però si dichiara innocente e tocca quindi all’avvocato Marco De Vitis, alter ego di Mauro De Pascalis, scoprire la verità.

Si è magari preso la libertà di cambiare il finale di quella che era stata l’avventura processuale che l’aveva vista protagonista?
“Questo naturalmente non intendo svelarlo. Un legal thriller va letto mantenendo la suspense fino in fondo. Ma una cosa la posso dire: non è stato il maggiordomo”.
